Beginning in January 2007, National Capital Apple Macintosh Users Group (NCA-MUG) has endeavored to regularly gather members at least ten times each year at the Cleveland Park Library located in northwest Washington, D.C. Over time, the schedule has evolved to be set at the second Saturdays of each month, except for the months of August and December when NCA-MUG does not meet.
NCA-MUG meetups have always been a mix of discussions, presentations, Q&A, and a chance to socialize with other members.
In February 2007, NCA-MUG established a (now-defunct) Yahoo!-based group to afford members with a forum on which to keep in contact and communicate in between meetups. In late 2019, NCA-MUG’s forum moved to Groups.io, where it continues to serve members.
As with most Mac users groups, in April, 2020, NCA-MUG was forced to cancel in-person meetups indefinitely due to the rising pandemic. Since then, the Zoom online meeting platform has provided NCA-MUG members a means to gather in a private, online forum. Thanks to Board members, NCA-MUG was able to quickly move and acclimate to this format. NCA-MUG has continued to successfully gather on the second Saturday of the month, ten times a year, via the Zoom platform.
Whether in-person or over Zoom, NCA-MUG’s meetups are the place where members share knowledge, updates, information, tips & tricks, and more.
